After we added the obvious Google Maps for Blackberry in the Best Blackberry Apps (Freeware) list; now it is time for me to introduce my second favorite free app: the Beyond411. [Freeware] Finally, an Official Twitter App for Blackberry

Finally the awaited app from RIM namely Blackberry Twitter client has come. Previously this app had been released by RIM a few months ago and since then mixed responses had been around. Some of them didn’t appreciate the app because of its lack of features, and some others appreciated its push notification feature that had been integrated within its messages app.

So now all users can download the beta version of Blackberry Twitter client. Yes, we know it is not yet completed as some features are expected to be changed and added. Take for instance is pushing just your mentions as the replacement of all your friend’s tweets. Still, this is a cool app for most of Twitter users.

For you who feel curious of the previous basic feature, so it covers basic things such as sending tweets with images, managing your mentions and direct messages, searching as well as shortcuts. You may enjoy it as it is straight forward, no tons of menu options like the other.

Free App: Google Maps for Blackberry [updated]

One of the updated Blackberry apps seems to be Google Maps. There are 2 new key features have been added to the app such as voice search and Buzz layers. These features have made Google Maps becomes a stronger app. You now can share with other users of Google Maps, have their recommendations and share yours too.

As for voice search, it is simple, you have to press then hold your Send button before speak you command such as restaurant type, business type, business name, address and so on. Many English accents are supported and Mandarin as well.

Buzz Layer lets you view news, oppinion, pictures related to your destinations using Layers, Buzz via menu. Post Buzz can be selected once you want to post your media.

When you want to get search history, just sign in to your Google account. This feature will be useful when you need the familiar destinations.

Google has implemented :

* Use Labs to check features like the Scale Bar or Terrain layer (cool for hiking fans!).
* View nearby businesses at a location or address by picking a point from the map.
* You can report a problem with a business listing or the map data.

Have you installed this app on your Blackberry? The app is called OnMyWay by Telenav. Installing the app on your device will let others know you are on your way. OnMyWay seems to be useful for personal and business. You can use this app rather than telling others where are you now one by one, and what time you will get there to meet your friend or attending a meeting.

Of course, OnMyWay is more efficient in giving report to your friends. When you say to your friend that you will be back after 15 minutes, then it can be longer, maybe 30 minutes or more. When your friend says he will meet you in the next hour, it can be longer or earlier. But with OnMyWay you’ll get something more precise. This what the official says:

OnMyWay (OMW) allows you to notify one or more people of your estimated arrival time (ETA). Set the alert before you depart and recipients will be notified via SMS or email automatically as you near your destination or if you will be late for a meeting.

A little effort from the sender is needed. You have to set OnMyWay for notification before leaving. Then your friends will get your notification via SMS or email. It has good work with other Blackberry user or other platforms. Give your friend your best estimate.

The Blackberry users may need the app for managing their files remotely and locally. One of those apps is Cortado Workplace. This cloud-base file manager gives you gigabyte storage. This storage can be browsed thru Blackberry app. Of course the app also lets you access local files on your device.

The cool thing here is you can print your file via a wireless network using a wireless printer. Now maybe the wireless printer is not exist or rarely found but who know in future. You can access your storage via notebook or PC. The maximum space is 1Gb and there is a 3MB limit per upload that will accommodate the normal file usage.

Via App World you get get Cortado Workplace for free. Visit the site for desktop app. An info says that the company will offer a premium plan soon which enables users to get more file limit and storage.

While previously we known S4BB’s Network Traffic Control in beta stage, now there is a better similar app namely Mobile Data Alerter. The app comes from e-office mobile. No confirmed info shows that Mobile Data Alerter can solve the innacurrate traffic usage report in RIM 4.5+ OS. But however this app is free so why not you try it.

The quantity of sent and received data on your Blackberry can be monitored using this app. It also allows you to set rules. For example you can set daily or monthly data bucket so Mobile Data Alerter will tell you when those limits are reached. What apps are running in the background also will be told by this app. So you can stop those apps (preventing them using data when roaming).

Great news, Americans! Are you familiar with ShopBlackberry?It is the official website where RIM sells accessories for BlackBerry smartphones. Anyway, apparently RIM has just added the Shopblackberry store free apps to the Blackberry App World.

Finding and shopping for RIM Blackberry accessories and items has become easier. Some of the free app’s features include automatic device detection and catalogue updates. Moreover, secure credit card purchasing and address book integration is also the part of this Blackberry freeware. Currently Visa and Mastercard are accepted, but it would be nice if in the future we can see Paypal payment as an option….

WeatherEye has been one of the popular weather app for Blackberry… Besides of the nice features, the WeatherEye app is a freeware. But I personally think that the freeware works great and you should look no further for a great service like this.

Anyway, the weathereye free app apparently has reached version 2.0.14; and it is now available for download. Some of the improvements found in the new WeatherEye freeware version 2 are:

Hourly forecasts
POP in long term forecast
Maps (not sure what for, though)

Just recently I visited one of my favorite site, the Crackberry store and found this freeware. Introducing the Free Binary Clock App for Blackberry. Yep, only those who are smart who can read this clock. Lol. To be honest, I never even understand how to read Binary Clock… Luckily, there’s a tutorial for a man like me in WikiHow.
