Previously today we have given you the Blackberry Pearl 3G OS update; and now we found another OS update; but this time it is for the Blackberry Curve 8530.

The Blackberry Curve 8530 just got another Blackberry 5 OS update. I’m not sure will the Curve 8530 get the Blackberry 6 OS or not, but I certainly hope older devices like these can taste all the goodness of the Blackberry 6 someday.

Anyway, this is an unofficial OS update, so proceed carefully. As usual, please remember that only install it if you are comfortable with the process and you have to install it at your own risk. Recently we found a simple and interesting free Blackberry app, called the Plug It In. This free Blackberry app allows Blackberry users to have them alerted when their beloved Blackberry’s battery is low. For those who haven’t realized it yet, there is no low battery indicator in the Blackberry Torch 9800. The upcoming Blackberry 6 OS update for Torch will surely include the native low battery indicator, but for now the free Blackberry app is a solution.

The free Blackberry app Plug it in will notify you when your Blackberry battery reach a certain level. With this low-battery indicator app you can manage your battery better when you are on the go. For example, you can set the notification to 40%; and you will be able to manage your battery more efficiently. Pretty useful, in my opinion.

The Plug It In app will alert you with a pop-up, a notification icon (see the red circle?), and the option of a blinking LED and alert sound.

The Blackberry Desktop Manager 6 is a nice update from the previous version. It works nicely. Although it may not as interesting as the new Blackberry 6; but the Blackberry Desktop Manager certainly a nice BB client and comes with some new features.

Some of the features are pretty interesting, such as support for the trick WiFi sync mode that’s new in BlackBerry 6.  Other new features are settings transfer capabilities, a new-from-the-ground-up UI, and integrated Media Sync.
