Pandora and Slacker Streaming Music App new rival: Grooveshark

Perhaps some of you are familiar with Blackberry streaming music apps such as Pandora and Slacker. Well what I have here is another app that offers the same service, yet it differs from its competitor, tha Pandora and Slacker. The Blackberry app’s name is GrooveShark. By using Grooveshark your Blackberry can provide you songs and access to playlists from the Grooveshark music catalog. You can also play any song you want to play directly and then look out for their next song/album.This give us the feeling of control over our music.

Anyway, other features of the streaming music app Grooveshark are radio stations that is based on your favorite music, multiple custom playlists, favorites and accessible offline songs. Isn’t it fabulous? However, the app is not a free app, though. VIP access cost is $3/month. But I think it’s pretty cheap for such service…

The Grooveshark is compatible with all Blackberry’s running OS 4.2.1 (this means ALL, including the Curve 8900, Bold 9000, Storm 9500, Tour 9630, Bold 9700). Oh and you also need a 3G/Wi-Fi connection to stream/cache music.The grooveshark can be enjoyed in Canada and several other countries. Recently I found a pretty nice freeware for your Blackberry, whether it is the Blackberry Bold, Bold 9700, Storm2, Storm, Curve and other Blackberry series. Well it is not actually full freeware, though.. So there are two version of the Blackberry App, the paid version and the free version. The difference between the two? well let’s take a deeper look into this…

So the app is called the Windows-Like Task Manager and Process Viewer. And as the name suggests, the app takes the same features you see on windows task manager & gives you a lot of information about your BlackBerry performance. Now what does this mean? this means that you can see your applications that are currently running, Battery performance, System information, & Processes which goes more in-depth.

Now the nice-looking free app won’t get the process option (ability to see background apps that are running); but rest easy since other options are also available in the free feature. But for $ 1.99; I guess this app might be the one that you’re looking for. It’s a pretty cheap tool, in my opinion.

[BB Software Review] Berry Vibrate for Pearl, Curve n Bold. Trial version available.

Recently I got an email from MMMOOO, offering a review of their latest software called the Berry Vibrate… And here’s my short opinion of the software

The Berry Vibrate is another tool that might be handy for you… If you are looking for a Blackberry software that can help your beloved Blackberry Pearl, Curve or Bold to vibrate, led and ring at the same time, this software might be the cure. I personally think that this software is very useful, since if you are a busy business man/woman, you don’t want to miss any important calls from your colleague only because the queuing system of the vibration and ringtone of your beloved Blackberry.

Anyway, the premium BB software works and compatible for a number of Blackberry device, and just to make it clear; the Blackberry series that are compatible with this software are from 81, 82, 83, 85, 87, 88, 89, 90 series. I do hope that they will improve the software so that it can be used in other series too…

The Berry Vibrate also has a pretty simple setup… All you have to do is just choose whether you want to make your Blackberry Pearl, Curve n Bold to be able to vibrate and ring at the same time. Alternatively, you can also change the calling LED notifier with a changing color.

Overall, with a price of $1.99 I think that this app is worth buying… Just like any other Blackberry software I recommend you to buy here, I highly recommend that you try the trial version first. You know, I got this information on the Blackberry Storm 9500 Freeware Sinezub from GetJar rss feed. The strange thing is, the BB Storm 9500 freeware were listed in the BB Storm freeware RSS feed, but when we go to the official website; we could not find a confirmation that the freeware is compatible with the Storm 9500.

However, since the freeware is a Java-based App. There’s a chance that the freeware can work on our beloved Blackberry Storm 9500. Oh I almost forgot the Blackberry Storm 9500 freeware Sinezub is all about bluetooth and calling. So basically it is a simple bluetooth chat for mobile phones. In theory, restrictions on the number of users there. Check in practice:)

Download Free Skyfire Alpha 3.5 for Blackberry Curve 8900 and Bold 9000

Skyfire is a free mobile browser that many people talked about for the last couple of months. And now the Skyfire has reached Alpha 3.5 stage (upgraded from Alpha 3.1). Just like the previous version, the Skyfire Alpha 3.5 is made mainly for Blackberry Bold 9000; especially those which operates OS 4.6.0.167 and 4.6.0.247.

However, it might be also interesting to see the Skyfire Alpha 3.5 works on the Blackberry Curve 8900 and Blackberry Bold 9000 which use the OS 5.0.xx version

The version of Alpha 3.5 is 1.0.0.12799.

Skyfire developers said that they removed the Stream Mode in the new Skyfire Alpha 3.5. Other new addition in the Skyfire Alpha 3.5 are:

Inline Text Entry: You can now edit/enter form elements directly within the page, without being interrupted by a dialog box. Makes it more direct, convenient and retains the context.
Click-to Call: The Blackberry client now will utilize tags in websites that trigger a phone call, when clicked (e.g. callto: and tel: links). You have to confirm before the call is initiated.
Set as Default Browser: when set, links will open Skyfire
Downloading of Files: you can now invoke the download of files to your device.
Improved Scrolling: Further tweaking since the last Alpha.

Several bugs found in this Skyfire Alpha 3.5:

Clear cookies: When you clear cookies in advanced settings it will not work. Will be addressed in the next release.
Inline Text: We are seeing several issues.
Sometimes old text is visible (Issue 331 & 409), when re-entering text box, the cursor is positioned at the beginning of the text field (Issue 333).
Download: timeout when downloading large files (Issue 435)”

Download Blackberry Tour App: ForwardReplyAndEdit

Recently I stumbled upon the web and found this freeware; the Blackberry ForwardReplyAndEdit. As the name suggests, it is a free app that allows users to edit emails (reply or forward email). So this Blackberry Tour free app is basically can be used to fix spelling mistakes, add content, delete content, add comments, etc.

After that, here are the steps needed to be done:

Click RUN after download is completed
Unlock the application by clicking on the icon saved to your BlackberryTM Smartphone (check the “Downloads” Folder) and follow instructions
Highlight an Email
Open the Menu
To Forward: Click on “Forward & Edit”
To Reply: Click on “Reply & Edit”
Add / Edit your email content just like you do for any other email
Click Send

Oh please remember that the free App doesn’t work on emails that come with attachments. I also believe that the ForwardReplyAndEdit can also work on other Blackberry devices besides the Tour. You can try it outin your Blackberry Pearl, Curve, Bold, Storm or Onyx

The Blackberry Storm freeware is called Portaserver, and it is a solution for accessing files on our beloved Blackberry phones over Wi-Fi. So here’s how it works: the Portaserfer freeware allows us to connect to our Blackberry Storm over Wi-Fi to browse and download files from your BlackBerry.

PortaServer allows you to use your WiFi capable BlackBerry as a web server, and access its file system from any web browser on the same network. You can view or download pictures, music, videos, documents or web pages directly from your handset over a WiFi connection.
The web server provides a password to protect your data from random visitors; this password is displayed on the main screen of PortaServer. The password will not, however, protect you from targeted attacks or when using public WiFi networks. We recommend that you only use PortaServer in a secure environment (e.g. your home or office network)

Upon launching, PortaServer displays the URL to connect to your BlackBerry, and the password required to access the device. To use, simply turn on PortaServer, enter the URL it provides into a web browser on another device (computer, PDA, or other), enter the password, and you will be able to browse the phone’s files.

Well I say it is a pretty useful freeware. Since it only starts the app that you’ve chosen and we all know that once in a while (for some Blackberry series) we should pull the Blackberry out and place it again. It saves memory, some say.

[Trial and Paid App] MyPhone: iPhone in a Blackberry

As you might know, iPhone (3G, 3GS) has so many fans out there, and some of those fans are Blackberry phone users. I bet there are people out there who love the appearance of the iPhone 3G/3GS but prefer the performance of their Blackberry. Well, to find a win-win solution of this problem, here is an option for you, MyPhone v1.0 for Blackberry. An App that can bring iPhone feel to your Blackberry, whether it is the Pearl, Bold, Curve, and Storm. The creator told me that in the near future the MyPhone 1.0 for Blackberry will also support Tour and perhaps (I hope) Onyx

You can install the app by downloading it to your PC, connect your Blackberry and use the Blackberry Device Manager. Click on Application Loader, choose the MyPhone.alx and Install. Reboot and then you can find MyPhone icon in Download.
